Hello Amir, I was in Paris last year and one morning while I was passing in front of the famous big five floors music store on Champs Elysees, I decided to go in and look for Aznavour's last CD. And Guess what? None of those dyed color hair and pierced face young boys and girls sellers knew who I was talking about. I had to go to their manager who was old enough to know who Aznavour is and find my CD. When I left the store I realized Time really has changed.
Dear Ali, Thanks for the note. I can imagine what you feel. Today’s generation, are not interested in sentimental and/or nostalgic music. They are interested in excitement and stimulations that comes from adrenalin and sex appeals… Knowing myself, I often think I was born in the wrong area! I always wondered if I would be more in-line with the ‘turn of the century (1900’s)’ generations; when movies were black and white, people did not watch TVs but listened to radios, read and spent time in cafes and ballrooms. When Renoir, Degas, J.P Sartre and Klimt … were the excitement and subject of conversations…
My country has no borders;
I am from everywhere and anywhere.
My people don’t speak one language.
They don’t have one color.
I don’t feel attached to a particular culture or history or a geographical region.
I love them all, enjoy them all, and feel connected to all; feel for their pain and celebrate their joy.
I don’t follow one religion, I respect them all but I don’t practice any.
My home is here and there; all the places that I have visited and left and places that I have not visited, except in my dreams…
I don’t have doors to close or open …
I have windows, to let the light in and to gaze ourside.
